Project Quantity Surveyor – Construction
Reference: clond612
Our client is a highly respected Building & Project Management consultancy, employing circa 20 staff. They’re seeking to appoint a Project running Quantity Surveyor to join their niche cost management team.
Following many years of outsourcing QS work, our client instigated its own small in-house team and is now at full capacity and needing to recruit a confident project runner to help them meet on-going client demands and also relieve some pressure in order to secure more project opportunities that are available.
Working alongside the Divisional Director, it’s expected you’ll be able to manage projects autonomously and / or with limited supervision whilst providing an integral link between the Director and one other Assistant surveyor on a day to day basis.
Over the past 12 months, projects have expanded from a majority CAT A / A+ & B projects (for landlords and occupiers) to a number of developer led residential projects. This includes a low rise apartment scheme with high end finishes, currently at procurement stage, c£8m, to potential 100 unit projects around the fringes of London – Peckham, Wembley and Camden, c£25-35m. In addition, there are a number of complex remedial façade work projects for private developers, post Grenfell, c£30-40m notwithstanding other ancillary projects.
The opportunity will be varied and challenging (potentially suitable for a highly competent, later stage APC surveyor) but the post is ready to promote the appointed to SQS level within c12-18 months.
Person specification:
- Minimum of 3 years post QS degree experience, preferably experience in a private practice.
- Chartered (RICS) ideally, or competent QS working towards qualification…
- Good team player but able to manage own tasks / workloads where required.
- Good communication and IT skills – Cost X experience particularly
- Robust cost planning and bugdet estimating skills
- Enthusiasm, good personality and professionalism are essential.
This is fabulous opportunity for an emerging talent to achieve some quality ‘hands on’ project running experience (start to finish) whilst enjoying a very friendly & supportive office environment.
The candidate can expect an excellent starting salary between c£45,000 – 55,000 (depndent on experience)+ benefits package and generous incentive bonus scheme.
